Why You’re a Furry:
I came out as a furry in summer 2014 after meeting one of my now close friends and learning more about the fandom. Prior to, I was always someone who identified more as a wolf even from my childhood and would always be with groups of people only for brief periods of time. I always felt like an outsider in all of my social interactions, whether due to internal or external reasons. I learned more about the fandom and who I identify as back then, and realized that it was okay to be me, as well as identify how I had internally for years. The fandom has given me a place that I feel supported and cared for.
Why your fursona:
Alex has had many renditions between 2014 and 2024, when I settled on him having two forms that I was able to shift between. Wolven form relates back to the 10 years where I was learning more about myself and how I identified in this element of my life. I started out from the beginning as an arctic wolf, primarily due to how fluffy they were. I chose the arctic variant as I felt it aligned with me the best.
Draconic form aligns more with how I am in present day. During my exploration phase, I toyed with the concept of being at least either part phoenix, part dragon, or both. In 2024, I settled on draconic form and the ability to shift into it. At the time of writing this, I use this form the most due to my comfort and my fursona’s lore.
Personality wise, both forms follow similarly to my own personality, with only minor differences. Wolven form tends to be my more softer, cuddly side. Draconic form tends to mirror my tougher, more slightly dominant side.
Lore Elements:
Not much is known about Alex’s origins. The only thing he’ll tell you is that he’s “an old soul in a new place.” From time to time, Alex likes to spend time in nature and unwind, or spend time with friends, usually socializing and being more himself.
Although Alex tends to be about the same during many interactions, there are a few things of note:
- Whether for business or pleasure, Alex has been known to be able to shape shift and change his size. This has given him countless advantages in times of need or if he wants to do something for specific reasons.
- While Alex tends tries to be a social butterfly, he really struggles with social interactions and is known to miss several social ques. Perhaps it would be wise to tell him when he doesn’t notice something.
- Alex struggles a lot with making new friends. Be patient, and he’ll realize that he doesn’t have to bend over backward to be the perfect friend for you.
- Alex cares a lot about the friends he has. It’s not uncommon for him to put you before himself in certain situations or to go for a big hug. If hugs aren’t your thing just let him know; he’s super receptive to it.
- Alex at baseline always mixes aspects of his wolven and draconic form. It’s not uncommon to see him with mostly draconic elements, but a lot of the wolven fluff with the draconic scales mixed in.
- Alex is not submissive in any way with very rare exceptions. This could be due to numerous factors from his past.
